LEGAL SERVICES
I advise and represent a select group of contemporary artists, artists’ estates, artists’ foundations, art galleries, and public charities on matters involving copyright (infringement, appropriation, fair use), moral rights, rights of publicity, licensing, complex contractual agreements and negotiations, and freedom of expression. I’m particularly interested in artists with complex practices and cases of first impression, that is to say, matters with new legal issues or controversies.
I also advise not-for-profit arts organizations with respect to their formation, operations, management, and governance issues.
Lastly, I have also handled independent investigations.
I have offices in New York City and Austin, and am admitted to practice in New York, Texas, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
